Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
March 23rd, 2020
If there’s one thing that can really ruin an otherwise normal day, it’s having a hemorrhoid. Many individuals will experience hemorrhoids at least once in their lifetime, as the issue is very common. More often than not, these same individuals will fail to experience the relief from being hemorrhoid free in a faster, more time appropriate manner.
This can be due to a variety of reasons, depending on the person, but here at San Francisco Gastroenterology we’ve outlined three of the top things that are keeping people from being hemorrhoid free.
“It’s embarrassing.”
Hemorrhoids can seem embarrassing, but they shouldn’t be. Yes, hemorrhoids are inflamed veins in the anorectal area of your body – which isn’t an area that usually comes up in conversation. However, as stated above, hemorrhoids are extremely common. As adults, it’s highly likely that many of your friends, family and co-workers have experienced a hemorrhoid or two in their lifetime.
If a sense of embarrassment is keeping you from seeking proper treatment for hemorrhoids, then now is the time finally to acknowledge that the issue is not nearly the “big deal” that you think it is, especially when a gastroenterologist is trained in treating this exact issue and sees other patients for the same condition every day.
At-home remedies are not enough.
For some, an at-home hemorrhoid treatment can be a simple solution to an uncomfortable problem. However, at-home treatments do not work for every individual, especially those who experience recurring hemorrhoids. If you find that an-home treatment is not providing the relief from pain and discomfort you need, contact SFGI to schedule an appointment for hemorrhoid banding. Hemorrhoid banding is quick, nonsurgical and pain-free.
“It will go away on its own.”
The “It will go away on its own” attitude is a common line of thought for those who are hoping to avoid a visit to a doctor for treatment. Unfortunately, this attitude only leads to unnecessarily prolonged discomfort for those who are hoping to avoid seeing a doctor. The fact is hemorrhoids are easily treatable during an appointment with your gastroenterologist.
