Lower Your Risk for Colon Cancer


Colorectal cancer is preventable in most cases. Here are some dietary and lifestyle changes which can significantly lower your risk for colon cancer:

  • Avoid tobacco
  • Be physically active
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains, but low in fat
  • Get the recommended levels of calcium and vitamin D
  • Eat less red meat and avoid processed meat
  • Limit alcohol
  • Get a screening for colorectal cancer (colonoscopy)
